Vougeot 1er Cru Les Petits Vougeots AC Premier Cru 0.75L
Between Clos de Vougeot and Chambolle-Musigny lies Les Petits Vougeots — a Premier Cru site that is often overlooked in the Burgundy hierarchy, yet delivers exactly that fine balance between structure and elegance for which the Côte de Nuits is famous.
Maison Joseph Drouhin from Beaune has been one of the most reliable négociant houses in Burgundy since 1880. The Drouhin family farms part of their vineyards themselves and has been known since the 1990s for consistently avoiding herbicides — an approach reflected in the precision of the wines.
In the glass, this Pinot Noir shows deep ruby red. The nose brings sour cherry and red currant, plus a hint of violets and fine earthiness, as is typical for well-situated Vougeot soils. On the palate, medium body, silky tannin, lively acidity — the finish remains long and subtly spicy.
Best served at 16–17 °C. Pairs with Coq au Vin, duck breast with cherries, or ripe Époisses. If you decant it, give it some time to fully unfold its aromatic depth.
