From the (hand)bag to the mouth

This red, handbag-shaped cooking box comes from Antico Pastificio Umbro in the green valley of Monte Subasio in Umbria. Inside are penne and fusilli (500 g each), the Spezie Siciliane spice mix (100 g), and a jar of tomato-basil sauce (180 g).

The pasta is drawn through bronze dies according to ancient tradition, cut by hand, and dried very slowly. The soft water comes from small streams on Monte Subasio.

The sauce tastes of tomato and basil, and the tubes and spirals hold the sauce well. The spice mix is perfect for vegetables or in olive oil. Ideal for an apartment, with friends, or as a gift. Pairs well with a dry red wine from Umbria.
