Cabernet Sauvignon from one of Catalonia's most influential vineyards — mature, complex, with the weight of long oak barrel aging.

Jean Leon is a pioneer of the Penedès region: the eponymous founder was one of the first to plant Cabernet Sauvignon in the area in the 1960s—a provocation at the time, now the estate's signature grape. The winery lies at an altitude of 200 to 400 meters in western Penedès, where Mediterranean heat is tempered by Atlantic influences. The Vinya La Scala Gran Reserva is the estate's flagship wine: produced only in exceptional vintages, it undergoes extended barrel aging according to Spanish Gran Reserva tradition.

In the glass, a deep garnet red with reddish-rusty reflections at the rim—a sure sign of maturity. On the nose, dark blackberry and black plum, underpinned by cedar, sandalwood, and a subtle hint of roasted coffee bean. On the palate, dense but without harshness: the tannins are perfectly integrated, and the structure carries the wine through a long, slightly spicy finish with notes of tobacco and dark chocolate.

Serving temperature 17–18 °C. Pairs well with leg of lamb with rosemary, aged Manchego cheese, or a hearty roast beef. The drinking window is still open—anyone with a bottle in their cellar can safely leave it until 2030.
