VAT 69 Blended Scotch Whisky

VAT 69 Blended Scotch Whisky
VAT 69 is a classic blended Scotch whisky, produced according to the same recipe since 1882. The name originates from a blind tasting in which founder William Sanderson examined 100 different casks — number 69 was the most convincing.
This blend combines several Scottish malt and grain whiskies into an approachable, balanced style. The nose reveals bright cereal notes, a hint of vanilla, and light honey. On the palate, a smooth texture unfolds with mild caramel sweetness, some dried fruit, and a subtle oak undertone. The finish is short to medium-long, dry, and clean—typical of the light Scottish blend style.
The VAT 69 reveals its character most clearly when enjoyed neat at room temperature or with a large ice cube. It also works reliably as a long drink with cola or ginger ale. An uncomplicated everyday whisky for relaxed evenings without any fuss.
VAT 69 – the name sounds like a well-kept secret, and indeed there's a beautiful story behind it: In 1882, William Sanderson had one hundred casks of blended Scotch whisky tasted – and cask number 69 won. Since then, this blend has proudly borne its name.
VAT 69 stands for approachable Scotch without frills: soft, slightly smoky, with a pleasant spiciness that makes it a reliable companion – neat, on ice or in a casual highball.
