Tokara Reserve Collection Sauvignon Blanc

Tokara Reserve Collection Sauvignon Blanc
The Tokara Reserve Collection Sauvignon Blanc comes from one of the most exciting white wine sites in South Africa: the grapes grow on Walker Bay and in the cool high altitude of Elgin, where low average temperatures give the Sauvignon Blanc the aroma it needs — tension, freshness, depth.
Tokara was founded in 1994 by G.F. Ferreira in Stellenbosch and is now one of the most renowned wineries in the country. The 120 hectares of cultivated land at the foot of the Simonsberg benefit from nutrient-rich soils and the influence of the sea air from the Atlantic. The fact that the winery with its art gallery and restaurant shows a clear attitude toward quality and enjoyment is also reflected in the wine.
In the glass, a Sauvignon Blanc with a clear profile appears: intense aromas of asparagus and green peas, behind which are exotic guava and honeydew melon. On the palate, lemongrass and a hint of plum are added — fresh, lively, with a mineral finish that keeps the wine in memory longer than one might perhaps expect from a South African.
Best drunk at 8–10 °C — with roasted asparagus with hollandaise, goat cheese salad, grilled sea bass, or a light risotto with herbs.
