Tiareblu Rosso delle Venezie Merlot & Cabernet Sau DOC Collio 0.75L

A red wine from the heart of Friuli that combines the cool elegance of Collio with the warmth of classic Bordeaux grape varieties. The cuvée of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon shows what this often underestimated northeast of Italy is capable of.

The Livon winery manages the Tiare Blu vineyard in Ruttars, a hamlet of the municipality of Dolegna del Collio, right on the Slovenian border. The vines stand on Eocene marl soils — the so-called Ponca —, the defining subsoil of Collio, which gives the wines their characteristic minerality and freshness. Collio is considered one of the coolest and most structured red wine sites in Italy, influenced by the Alps in the north and the Adriatic in the south.

In the glass, the Tiareblù shows dark cherry and blackberry, supplemented by notes of red bell pepper and a hint of dried herbs — typical for Cabernet Sauvignon from cooler sites. The Merlot brings melt and a velvety texture, the tannins are present but well-integrated, the finish is medium-long with light spice.

Pairs with pasta al ragù, grilled lamb, or an aged Pecorino. Drinking temperature: 16–18 °C.
