The Steading

The Steading
The Steading from Torbreck Vintners is a Grenache-dominated red wine from the Barossa Valley that bears the signature of the southern French Rhône style—warm, velvety, and permeated with fine spice.
Torbreck began in 1994 in the Barossa Valley with the goal of vinifying wines in the style of the Rhône—on soils that have been planted with Grenache, Shiraz, and Mourvèdre since 1840. This historical rooting in one of Australia's oldest wine regions gives the wines their depth. Pete Kight, owner since 2013, and head winemaker Ian Hongell manage the winery with the ambition of consistently bringing the best Barossa grapes into the cellar.
On the nose, the wine opens with truffle, cinnamon, and licorice, accompanied by Provençal herbs and a hint of spring flowers. On the palate, it is elegant and velvety—juicy cherry fruit, ripe, well-integrated tannins, and a long, spicy finish.
Served at 16–18 °C, The Steading pairs well with braised lamb, entrecôte with herb butter, or a strong goat cheese. It also makes a good impression on a long evening without food.
