Sori San Lorenzo Barbaresco DOP 0.75L

The Sorì San Lorenzo is one of the most well-known single-vineyard wines of Piedmont — a Barbaresco that combines the power of Nebbiolo with the precision of a clearly defined site. Gaja has been vinifying this wine for decades from the single vineyard of the same name in Barbaresco and has thus internationally shaped the reputation of the entire appellation.

The Gaja winery has stood for uncompromising quality in Piedmont since its founding in 1859 in Barbaresco. Angelo Gaja shaped the family into one of Italy's most influential producers in the 1970s and 1980s — with a clear focus on single vineyards and the conviction that Nebbiolo finds its most complex expression on the hills around Barbaresco.

In the glass, the Sorì San Lorenzo shows the typical transparency of Nebbiolo: ruby red with a slight orange edge. In the nose, dried cherry, violets, and tar notes emerge, supplemented by leather and tobacco. On the palate, dense but polished tannins, a lively acid structure, and a long, spicy finish with mineral accents.

Best served at 16–18 °C, ideally after longer decanting. Classic accompaniment: braised beef roast, game ragù on tajarin, or mature Parmigiano Reggiano.
