Soluna Malvasia DOC Friuli-Venezia Giulia 0.75L

The Malvasia from the Collio Goriziano is one of the most aromatically independent white wines in northeastern Italy — floral, spicy, and yet surprisingly structured. Livon, one of the best-known wineries in Friuli, vinifies it as a single varietal and lets the grape variety speak clearly.

The winery cultivates sites in the Collio, a hilly region on the Slovenian border whose soils consist of "ponca" — an alternation of marl and sandstone that gives the wines minerality and freshness. Livon has stood for decades for careful hand-picking and single-varietal aging, which brings the peculiarities of the Friulian terroirs into the bottle.

In the glass, the wine glows golden yellow. The nose shows peach blossom, ripe apricot, and a hint of nutmeg — typical for the Malvasia Istriana. On the palate follows a lively acidity that carries the medium body and gives the wine pull. The finish is long, slightly spicy, and characterized by a fine bitter almond note.

Served well-chilled at 10–12 °C, it accompanies grilled sea bass, risotto with seafood, or a young goat cheese. It also cuts a fine figure as an aperitif with a platter of Friulian appetizers.
