Silvaner Thierthal Reserve QW Franken 0.75L
A Silvaner that demonstrates what Franconia can achieve when location, age, and patience come together. The Thierthal Reserve from Rudolf May is not a light, everyday wine, but a wine with substance and a clear terroir profile.
The grapes grow in a densely planted vineyard in Thierthal, around 45 years old – a single site that gives the wine its depth. Old vines produce fewer, but more concentrated grapes; you can taste that in the glass. Rudolf May is one of the winemakers in Franconia who focus on consistent terroir rather than pleasing mass-produced wines.
Silvaner from old vines typically offers ripe pear and white peach, along with an earthy, almost spicy depth and the herbal spiciness characteristic of Franconia. The acidity is well-integrated, and the finish is long and dry.
Pairs well with Franconian bratwurst, asparagus with hollandaise sauce, or a mature mountain cheese. Serving temperature: 10–12 °C. If desired, let it breathe briefly – the wine opens up with a little time in the glass.
