Sancerre is primarily known for its Sauvignon Blanc — but the red from Domaine de la Poussie shows what Pinot Noir can achieve on the limestone and pebble soils of the Loire Valley: a lean, aromatically precise red wine with a genuine sense of origin.

Domaine de la Poussie is one of the established addresses in Sancerre, whose vineyards reflect the typical diversity of the appellation — Kimmeridgian limestone, flint, and clay. Pinot Noir reacts to these soils with transparency instead of weight, with fragrance instead of density.

The wine glows in a clear ruby red in the glass. On the nose, Morello cherry, elderberry, and a hint of cocoa, plus floral notes reminiscent of violets. On the palate, it appears lean with lively acidity, fine tannins, and a clean, fruit-driven finish — typical for Sancerre Rouge in its more elegant form of expression.

Serve it at 14–16 °C — slightly cooler than many other red wines, which emphasizes its freshness. Pairs well with local goat cheese, grilled salmon, veal medallions, or a mushroom risotto.
