Sancerre Rouge AC Sancerre 0.75L
Sancerre is Sauvignon Blanc land — everyone knows that. That the appellation also produces one of the most elegant Pinot Noirs of the Loire is a well-kept secret. Domaine Bailly-Reverdy, rooted in Bué for generations, is one of the reliable addresses for exactly this style: lean, mineral, with the cool precision that characterizes the continental climate of the Sancerrois.
In the glass, the wine glows ruby red with violet reflections. The nose shows fresh sour cherry and raspberry, underpinned by a hint of violets and the characteristic chalk minerality left behind by the Kimmeridge soils around Bué. On the palate, medium body, fine, well-integrated tannins, and a lively acidity that makes the wine appear long and present despite its lightness. The finish is dry, spicy, with a mineral aftertaste.
Best served at 14–16 °C — cooler than most red wines, warmer than a white wine. This makes it the ideal companion for goat cheese from the Loire (Crottin de Chavignol is a perfect match), grilled salmon, or a light mushroom pan with thyme.
