Sancerre Haut de la Poussie AC 0.75L
Sancerre is the benchmark for Sauvignon Blanc in Europe — and the Domaine de la Poussie delivers with the Haut de la Poussie a wine that fulfills exactly what one expects from this appellation: clear line, mineral depth, not a gram of the superfluous.
The winery is located in the heart of the Sancerrois in the upper Loire Valley, a region whose soils consist of limestone, flint (Silex), and Kimmeridgian marl. This geology defines the style of Sauvignon Blanc here like nowhere else: less lush tropical fruit, but rather tension, salt, and length.
In the glass, the wine shows light yellow with green reflections. On the nose, gooseberry, citrus peel, and a distinct hint of white grapefruit, underneath the typical Silex minerality — almost like wet flint. On the palate, dry, with lively acidity and a salty-spicy finish that lingers long.
Good with goat cheese from the Loire (Crottin de Chavignol is the classic combination), with oysters, crayfish, or grilled sea bass. Drinking temperature: 10–12 °C.
