Sancerre Comte Lafond Rouge AC Sancerre 0.75L
Sancerre is primarily known as a white wine appellation — but Pinot Noir also grows on the limestone and chalk soils around the town, developing a very distinct signature. The Comte Lafond Rouge from De Ladoucette shows why red Sancerre is so coveted among connoisseurs: light-footed, precise, with a freshness rarely found in Burgundy.
De Ladoucette is one of the defining addresses in the Loire Valley. The house stands for carefully selected grapes from the best sites of the appellation and a style that places elegance above fullness. For the Comte Lafond Rouge, this applies in particular: Pinot Noir on Sancerre soils yields wines with a lean body, clear fruit, and a mineral vein reminiscent of the subsoil.
In the glass, it shines in a bright ruby red. The nose shows sour cherry, raspberry, and fresh earth, plus a hint of white pepper. On the palate, it feels lean and lively, with fine, silky tannins and a cool line of acidity that keeps the finish long and clear.
Best enjoyed slightly chilled at 14–16 °C — this preserves the freshness and highlights the minerality. It pairs well with oven-baked salmon trout, goat cheese from the Loire, or a summer menu with beetroot salad and walnuts.
