Sancerre Blanc AOC
Elegant, charming, and refreshing: grassy citrus notes and the tart fruit of gooseberry mingle with an impressive minerality. The finish is characterized by vegetal nuances. Wine was already being cultivated on the Girard estate in 1789, during the French Revolution. However, until the 1960s, the wine was consumed only by the family or shared with close, very close friends. This changed with Marius Girard. He began bottling his wines, sought out customers, and built a market for Sancerre Girard. The Girard estate is located in Verdigny, one of the most prestigious wine villages in Sancerre. The current generation—Michel, Philippe, and Benoit Girard—cultivate Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir on 16 hectares. The siblings know every single parcel in their vineyard. They vinify each one separately and then blend them into a complex work of art—their wines!
