Rosso di Montalcino DOC - Organic

Rosso di Montalcino DOC - Organic
The Rosso di Montalcino from Col d'Orcia is the classic introduction to the world of Sangiovese from Montalcino — more accessible than its big brother Brunello, but with the same craftsmanship in the background. Ruby red in the glass, with typical aromas of sour cherry and ripe red berries, plus spicy herbal notes that are characteristic of the hillside location above the Orcia river. The tannins are present but well-integrated, the acidity lively — a wine with backbone and at the same time pleasant drinking pleasure.
Col d'Orcia is one of the most historic addresses in Montalcino: family-owned since 1890, today completely converted to biodynamic cultivation under Count Francesco Marone Cinzano. With 140 hectares of vineyards — 108 of which are Brunello-classified — Col d'Orcia is the largest organic winery in Tuscany. The Sangiovese for the Rosso comes from the same terroir as the estate's renowned Brunelli.
At the table, it pairs well with pasta al ragù, Bistecca alla Fiorentina or aged Pecorino Toscano. Drinking temperature: 16–18 °C.
