Rosso del Conte Contea di Sclafani DOC Sicily 0.75L

The Rosso del Conte is the flagship of Tenuta Regaleali — a cuvée made from the ancient Sicilian grape varieties Nero d'Avola and Perricone, which have grown on the high plateau of the Contea di Sclafani in the heart of the island. No purchased concept, no international grape variety calculation: this wine is Sicily in its most original form.

Tenuta Regaleali has belonged to the Tasca d'Almerita family for generations and is one of the defining wineries of the Mezzogiorno. The vineyards are located at an altitude of around 400 to 600 meters — the temperature difference between day and night provides freshness and structure that one would not necessarily expect from the Mediterranean island.

In the glass, the Rosso del Conte shows ripe plum, black cherry, blackberry, and dark blueberry — accompanied by a spicy undertone of licorice and Mediterranean herbs. The body is full, the tannins are present but not angular, and the finish is long and slightly mineral.

Best served at 16–18 °C. Pairs with braised lamb, wild boar ragù, ripe Pecorino, or Sicilian pasta alla Norma with smoked ricotta.
