Rondeur Appassimento - Magnum 1.5L VdF
A southern French red wine that, thanks to the appassimento method – drying the grapes before fermentation – possesses an unusual density for a Vin de France. Behind the deep, dark color lies a Grenache Noir with true character: not a light, everyday wine, but one with weight and warmth.
La Grange lies in the heart of the Languedoc, amidst the garrigue – that wild scrubland fragrant with rosemary, thyme, and lavender. The winery was revamped in 2008 by Renate and Rolf Freund and has since combined experience with a fresh perspective: Régisseur Nicolas de Saint-Exupery and Chief Oenologist Eric Thomas oversee the cellars, advised by the multi-award-winning Kyriakos Kynigopoulos.
The nose reveals blackcurrant, dried plum, and a hint of raisin – typical of the Appassimento style. These are complemented by herbal notes of rosemary and thyme, along with a peppery accent. On the palate, a subtle sweetness is carried by raspberry and blueberry, before the finish lingers with garrigue spice and gentle warmth. Full-bodied, rounded, with soft tannins.
The magnum bottle is well-suited for a dinner party. Serving temperature 16–18 °C. It pairs well with braised lamb with olives, venison ragù, or a strong southern goat cheese.
