Rheingau Pinot Noir - Organic
A Rheingau Pinot Noir that shows what the cool sites north of the Main can achieve: bright red fruits, a slightly smoky undertone and tart herbal aromas that give the wine definition.
Behind the wine is the Corvers-Kauter winery in Rüdesheim am Rhein. Dr. Matthias Corvers and his wife Brigitte have run the estate since merging two family vineyards in 1996—today 11.5 hectares, organically farmed, with a focus on Riesling and Pinot Noir. The vineyards lie near the 50th parallel on Taunus quartzite, slate, and loess loam—soils that contribute minerality and finesse, not opulence.
In the glass, the Pinot Noir displays typical Rheingau aromas: redcurrant, light blackberry, a hint of smokiness, and a touch of herbal spice in the background. On the palate, it is soft and velvety, with a balanced body and a finish that echoes the tart blackberry notes. The aromatics remain cool and precise—Burgundian style, Rheingau origin.
Serving temperature 16–17 °C . Pairs well with duck breast with cherries, grilled lamb chops, or a mature goat cheese. Drink it young for freshness; one to two years of aging brings more depth.
