A Cabernet Sauvignon that shows what the Alps can do with a Bordeaux grape variety: cooler nights, intense sunlight, and mountain air here shape a red with a clear structure and aromatic depth.

The Kellerei Kaltern is one of South Tyrol's most renowned cooperatives. Founded in 1900 on Lake Kaltern, it now brings together around 600 winegrower families whose sites lie between 200 and 900 meters above sea level. The Quintessenz Riserva line represents the best plots of the vintage — selectively harvested, aged longer.

Intense ruby red in the glass. The nose opens with blackberry and cassis, plus cinnamon, forest floor, and a hint of dried herbs. On the palate, the wine shows firm but ripe tannins, a lively acidity, and a long, spicy finish with a slight peppery note — typical for Cabernet from alpine sites.

Pairs well with braised rack of lamb, game ragù, or aged mountain cheese such as Graukäse or Stilfser. Drinking temperature 16–18 °C. With potential for further development in the cellar.
