Quercegobbe IGT Tuscany 0.75L

A single-varietal Merlot from the Maremma, the southern Tuscan coastal strip known for its warm summers and the breeze from the Tyrrhenian Sea. The Quercegobbe stands for what this area does particularly well: Merlot with substance, without the heaviness of many Bordeaux counterparts.

The Petra winery is located on gentle slopes near Suvereto, on calcareous-loamy soils that give the Merlot structure and freshness. The location — facing the sea, but far enough inland — ensures slow ripening and aromatic density.

In the glass, the Quercegobbe shows dark cherry, plum, and a hint of tobacco, carried by soft, ripe tannins. The finish is long and warm, with a subtle spice reminiscent of bay leaf and earth. Not an intrusive wine — rather one that gains depth with time in the glass.

Serve it at 16–18 °C with braised beef, game ragù on pappardelle, or an aged Pecorino Toscano. It also pairs well with grilled lamb with rosemary.
