Pouilly Fuissé 1er Cru L'Orangerie du Château des Quarts 0.75L
The Pouilly-Fuissé 1er Cru L'Orangerie comes from southern Burgundy, where Chardonnay develops its characteristic tension on the calcareous soils around Fuissé. Château des Quarts is one of the appellation's most prestigious estates and manages the Clos des Quarts as a monopole vineyard—L'Orangerie refers to the younger parcels within this estate, which have been officially designated Premier Cru since the introduction of the classification in Pouilly-Fuissé (2020).
In the glass, the wine reveals what Chardonnay from this corner of the Mâconnais is capable of: yellow pear, white peach, a hint of hazelnut, and the mineral freshness typical of the limestone soils on the finish. The acidity is present but integrated—not a sharp cut, but a long-lasting tension that will carry the wine for the next five to eight years.
Best served at 10–12 °C . Pairs well with scallops in butter sauce, pike-perch on Riesling foam, or a mature Jura mountain cheese. If drinking it young, open at least an hour before serving.
