Pommard Fremiers AC Premier Cru 0.75L
The Fremiers is one of the most characteristic vineyards in Pommard — a Premier Cru that combines the power of the appellation with the finesse of Pinot Noir. Domaine Jean Monnier & Fils has been managing vineyards in the Côte de Beaune for generations and is one of the reliable addresses for classic Burgundian style without outliers up or down.
In the glass, this Pinot Noir shows a deep ruby red. The nose opens with blackberry and black cherry, plus a hint of violets and some earth — typical for the heavy, iron-rich soils of Pommard. On the palate, the tannins feel firm but not coarse; the acidity keeps the wine lively and gives it structure. The finish is long, slightly mineral, with an aftertaste of dark berries and leather.
Pommard needs time in the glass — decanting for at least an hour is worth it. Serving temperature: 16–17 °C. At the table, it pairs with Boeuf bourguignon, braised lamb shoulder with thyme, or a strong Époisses. For those who prefer vegetarian: fried porcini mushrooms with polenta are a strong combination.
