Neustadter Vogelsang Spätburgunder trocken VDP.Grosses Gewächs QW Pfalz 0.75L
A Pinot Noir from the Palatinate that shows what young large vineyard sites can achieve: The Neustadter Vogelsang from Weingut A. Christmann is one of the most exciting addresses in the VDP network of the region.
Steffen Christmann, long-time president of the VDP (Association of German Prädikat Wine Estates), cultivates his vineyards in the Palatinate biodynamically—the Vogelsang vineyard in Neustadt an der Weinstraße rests on over 200-million-year-old red sandstone, one of the oldest soils in the region. This mineral base noticeably shapes the wine: In the glass, dark cherry, blackberry, and a hint of earth emerge, underpinned by delicate spice and a cool, almost Burgundian character. The tannins are silky, and the acidity carries the wine into a long, dry finish.
As a VDP.Großes Gewächs (Grand Cru), the Vogelsang is designed for vineyard potential and aging — drinking window from 2026, optimal 2027–2033 . Served at 16–17 °C , it unfolds its profile best with venison fillet with wild mushrooms, duck breast or mature mountain cheese.
