Neipperger Schlossberg Weißburgunder *** GG QW Württemberg - Grand Cru 0.75L
Weißburgunder from one of the most renowned sites in Württemberg — the Neipperger Schlossberg is a Grosses Gewächs that shows what this grape variety can achieve in the best Württemberg terroir. Spontaneously fermented in barriques, this wine brings depth and tension in a style that goes far beyond what is expected.
The Graf Neipperg winery is one of the most traditional addresses in Württemberg. The family has been cultivating the Schlossberg for generations, and the classification as a Grosse Lage is an expression of a long-standing conviction: that Württemberg can produce white wines that measure up to the best sites in Germany. Spontaneous fermentation in barriques is not an end in itself, but craftsmanship — for wines that show character instead of formula.
In the glass, the Schlossberg Weißburgunder shows ripe quince and pear, underpinned by a hint of roasted hazelnut and subtle spice from the wood aging. The palate is dense and full-bodied, the acidity integrated, the finish long and slightly creamy. Drinking temperature: 12–14 °C.
Pairs well with veal medallions with morel sauce, grilled turbot, or a ripe mountain cheese. It also makes a fine figure as a standalone wine for the evening.
