How sweet is the Muscat de Beaumes de Venise really?

It is decidedly sweet — this is no coincidence, but method: In the Vin Doux Naturel process, fermentation is stopped early by adding alcohol, so that the natural grape sugar is preserved. In the glass, rose scent and ripe fruit dominate; the sweetness does not feel heavy, but aromatic and lively.

What does the wine go best with — only desserts?

Not exclusively. It works well as an aperitif, with fruit salad, or light cake. It is also a classic combination with blue cheese like Roquefort — the sweetness of the wine balances the saltiness of the cheese.

At what temperature should I serve it?

Best well-chilled between 8 and 10 °C. Served too warm, it loses its freshness and seems heavier than it is — so put it in the freezer or a wine cooler again shortly before serving.

The bottle is only 0.375 l — is that enough for two people?

Well calculated: With a dessert wine with 15% ABV, you generally drink smaller quantities than with a dry wine. The half bottle is quite sufficient for two people as an accompaniment to a dessert or as an aperitif glass.

How long does the bottle last after opening?

Due to the higher alcohol content and residual sugar, it keeps well in the fridge when closed for about 3 to 5 days — significantly longer than a dry white wine. Nevertheless, it unfolds its most intense aromas when freshly opened.
