Morey-Saint-Denis Rue de Vergy AC 0.75L

Morey-Saint-Denis is one of the quiet stars of the Côte de Nuits — less known than Gevrey-Chambertin or Chambolle-Musigny, but often more precise and characterful in the glass. The Rue de Vergy is a village site that shows the typical depth of this appellation: dark fruit, structure, and that unmistakable mineral tension for which the limestone-clay soil of the Côte de Nuits is known.

Virgile Lignier-Michelot is a family winery in Morey-Saint-Denis that has its roots deep in the commune. Virgile works with vine stocks that have grown over generations and relies on artisanal vinification that brings the character of the individual sites to the fore — without overwhelming the wine.

In the glass, this Pinot Noir shows aromas of dark cherry, blackberry, and a hint of violets, underscored by a fine earthy note and subtle spices. The tannins are silky, the acidity enlivening without dominating, the finish long and characterized by a pleasant spice.

Best served at 14–16 °C. Ideal with duck breast with cherries, saddle of lamb with herbs of Provence, or an aged Époisses.
