Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru Aux Chezeaux AC Premier Cru 0.75L

Aux Chezeaux lies in the heart of Morey-Saint-Denis, wedged between two of the most famous appellations in Burgundy — and it is precisely this location that gives this Premier Cru a depth that far exceeds its status. Virgile Lignier-Michelot manages the family estate's plots with the precision that the Côte de Nuits demands: small-scale, artisanal, with an eye on the individual vineyard.

In the glass, the Pinot Noir shows a bright ruby color with violet reflections. The nose opens with black cherry and fresh raspberry, followed by a hint of violets and damp forest floor — typical for the calcareous-loamy soils of Morey-Saint-Denis. On the palate, silky tannins and lively acidity support the wine without tightening it. The finish is long, spicy, with a mineral note reminiscent of crushed slate.

Drink it at 15–16 °C with Coq au Vin, entrecôte with herb butter, or a ripe Époisses. Those who decant it will get even more of the vineyard in the glass.
