Meursault Rouge Les Malpoiriers AC 0.75L
Meursault is known for its great white Burgundies — but the Jean Monnier & Fils winery shows what the appellation can also achieve in red. The Les Malpoiriers is a rare Meursault Rouge that comes from the lieu-dit of the same name, thus bringing a vineyard into the glass that hardly any other winemaker bottles in this color.
The Monnier family has been cultivating its plots in the Côte de Beaune for generations and stands for carefully crafted Burgundies. The Pinot Noir from Les Malpoiriers benefits from the calcareous soils that are responsible in Meursault for this precise, cool fruit that one otherwise finds more in white wines of this site.
In the glass, it shows a clear, lively cherry color. The nose brings red fruits — sour cherry, raspberry — with a floral undertone and a hint of spicy earth. On the palate, the wine is lean and lively, with fine acidity structure, silky tannins, and a clean, mineral-driven finish.
Best served at 14–16 °C. Pairs well with poultry in light sauce, salmon from the oven, or a ripe Époisses.
