Merry Edwards is one of the defining names for Pinot Noir in Sonoma. The winemaker has been working with various clones since the 1970s — including self-selected Merry Edwards clones — and has thus earned a firm place in the Californian top class. The Sonoma Coast site brings long, cool ripening times, which benefits the acidity structure and aromatics of this wine.

In the glass, it shows notes of sandalwood, black tea, and dried cherry, underpinned by floral hints and a slightly earthy background. The body is medium-weight, the tannins fine and well-integrated, the finish long with a spicy note.

Pairs with duck breast with Pinot reduction, rack of lamb with herb crust, or a mature Époisses. Serving temperature: 16–17 °C.
