Meredith Estate Pinot Noir Russian River Valley Sonoma County WO California 0.75L
A Pinot Noir from the Russian River Valley that shows why this valley in Sonoma County is one of the best locations for Burgundy grape varieties in North America: cooler temperatures due to Pacific influence, long ripening phases, structured fruit.
Merry Edwards is one of the most influential names in California's Russian River Valley winemaking. Founder Merry Edwards has been instrumental in establishing Pinot Noir as a serious grape variety in this region since the 1970s. The Meredith Estate is the winery's flagship vineyard—a single-vineyard wine that directly reflects the characteristic soils and microclimate of the Russian River Valley.
In the glass, the wine opens with aromas of blackberry, dark cherry, and a hint of baking spices—cinnamon and star anise. These are complemented by a delicate herbal spiciness reminiscent of fennel and dried herbs. On the palate, it is full-bodied with ripe, soft tannins and a fresh acidity that lends the wine vibrancy despite its richness. The finish is long and fruity.
Best served at 16–18 °C . Pairs well with duck breast with cherries, rack of lamb with rosemary, or a mature Brie. Once opened, decant for at least 30 minutes—it improves considerably with aeration.
