Martin Codax Albariño

Luciano Amoedo played a crucial role in our decision to offer an Albariño wine from the Rías Baixas region of northern Spain. He is not only one of the co-founders of the Martín Codax cooperative winery, but he was also the driving force behind the definition and introduction of the Rías Baixas Denominación de Origen (DOC), which has protected the wine under Spanish law since 1988. Furthermore, Amoedo holds a professorship in oenology at the University of Galicia and, as a member of the testing panel, oversees the high quality of Rías Baixas wines. Almost as a side note, as head winemaker, he produces an Albariño that sets a benchmark. Berlin Wine Trophy 2020: Gold Medal for the 2019 vintage.
