Luciano Amoedo has played a decisive role in our feeling compelled to carry an Albariño wine from the northern Spanish origin of Rías Baixas. He is not only one of the co-founders of the Martín Codax cooperative winery, but he was also the driving force behind the definition and introduction of the Denominación de Origen Rías Baixas, which has placed the wine under the protection of Spanish law since 1988.
In addition, Amoedo holds a chair for oenology at the University of Galicia and, as a member of the testing committee, oversees the high standard of Rías Baixas wines. Almost in passing, as chief oenologist, he makes an Albariño that has model character.
