Marieta Albariño

The Marieta from Martin Codax in the DOrias Baixas region, with just over 10 grams of sugar per liter, is the world's first semi-dry Albariño. Its color is a rich yellow with slightly greenish reflections. On the nose, it leaves an intense fruity impression reminiscent of white-fleshed fruits such as apples, pears, and melons. Subtle hints of citrus fruits like oranges can be detected in the background. On the palate, it develops an intense, full flavor with a fruity finish reminiscent of citrus fruits.

Is the Marieta really dry, or can you taste the residual sugar?

With around 10 g/l of residual sugar, it is officially in the semi-dry range — you feel this as a slight fullness and softness in the finish, not as sweetness. The citrus note and the natural acidity of the Albariño keep the balance.

What does the Marieta pair best with?

Classically with seafood and fish — pulpo a la gallega, grilled prawns, or scallops. The fruity fullness also makes it drinkable with tapas featuring white meat or mild cheese.

At what temperature should I serve it?

Ideally at 10–12 °C. Too cold dampens the fruit, too warm, it loses its freshness. About 30 minutes in the refrigerator after purchase are enough if it was at room temperature.

How long can I store the Marieta?

Albariño is fundamentally a wine for early enjoyment — the fruit aromas of apple, pear, and citrus are most lively now. Best to drink the 2025 vintage within the next one to two years.

Does the Marieta also fit without food — for example as an aperitif?

Yes, very well. The slight residual sweetness and the melon and pear fruit make it accessible without feeling heavy. As an aperitif on the terrace or to kick off a fish menu, it works very well.
