Marchese Antinori Donna Cora Saten millesimato Franciacorta DOCG

A single-varietal Chardonnay from the Franciacorta DOCG – and a sparkling wine that consistently explores the velvety side of this grape variety. The Donna Cora Satèn comes from Tenuta Montenisa, the sparkling wine estate of the Antinori family in Lombardy, south of Lake Iseo. The Antinori family, rooted in the Tuscan wine world since the 14th century, has built a project with Montenisa that is dedicated exclusively to the Franciacorta method – classic bottle fermentation, long yeast aging, strict origin control.

The Satèn category within the Franciacorta DOCG is reserved for white sparkling wines made from Chardonnay and prescribes a reduced bottle pressure – a maximum of 5 instead of 6 bar. The result is a perlage that appears finer and creamier than in classic Brut, and a texture that feels significantly softer on the palate. On the nose, the wine opens with white blossoms – acacia blossom, a hint of orange blossom – and ripe white peach, plus a subtle yeast note that points to the bottle aging. On the palate, there is lively but never sharp acidity, which keeps the wine fresh and balanced despite its velvety basic structure. The finish is long, slightly mineral, with an aftertaste of brioche and citrus zest.

Serve the Donna Cora Satèn at 7–9 °C – as an aperitif, with risotto with shrimp, steamed turbot, or mild soft cheese like Brie de Meaux. It also cuts a fine figure with light pasta dishes with butter-sage sauce.
