Mandrarossa Nero d'Avola

Mandrarossa Nero d'Avola
Nero d'Avola from southern Sicily – here the grape variety shows its approachable side: velvety texture, ripe fruit profile, no bulky tannins.
Cantine Settesoli is one of Sicily's largest winegrowers' cooperatives, located near Menfi on the south coast. The Mandrarossa brand represents vineyard-specific wines from the wine-growing center between Marsala and Agrigento – certified organic, with a focus on single-varietal wines.
In the glass, a clear ruby red. The nose reveals black cherry, plum, and a hint of licorice. On the palate, soft and rounded, with moderate acidity and gentle tannins – not a complex wine for aging, but an uncomplicated everyday companion. The finish is short to medium-long, with some dark fruit.
Serving temperature: 16–18 °C. Drinking window: now. Pairs well with pasta al ragù, grilled sausages, tomato sugo with aubergine, or a simple cheese board with pecorino.

The idyllic Menfitana coast is the stage for Sicily's quality revolution in red, white, and, of course, rosé wines. It began in 1958 when a group of winegrowers joined forces to escape their dependence on the large wineries and founded their own winegrowers' cooperative. This newly established cooperative called Cantine Settesoli, a name that alluded to the diverse and varied soil types found in the vineyards.
