Macaronesian Gin 0.7L

The Macaronesian Gin from Varma comes from the Canary Islands. Its name refers to Macaronesia, the island groups in the Atlantic around the Canaries, Madeira, and the Azores. In the glass is a gin with juniper as the foundation and citrus fruit as the counterpart.

It is produced with rainwater filtered through volcanic rock and with botanicals from the Canary Islands. These are joined by juniper, cardamom, angelica root, licorice, as well as lemon and orange peel.

Expect juniper in the foreground, fresh citrus and orange zest, a spicy warmth from the cardamom, and a slightly sweet depth from the licorice. The angelica root gives the whole thing an earthy undertone. Recommendation: a Gin Tonic with dry tonic, plenty of ice, and an orange slice or lemon zest. The gin also shows its botanicals in a Martini or neat over a large ice cube.
