Lodi Merlot

Lodi Merlot
A Californian Merlot that makes no compromises: fully ripe fruit, soft structure, and a finish that keeps what the nose promises.
Ironstone Vineyards is located in the Shenandoah Valley of the Sierra Nevada Foothills, but also works with grapes from nearby Lodi — one of the oldest wine regions in California, known for its continental climate with hot days and cool nights. It is precisely these temperature differences that ensure that the Merlot grapes develop ripeness and freshness at the same time.
On the nose, the wine opens with currant and dark fruits, underscored by spicy cedar wood. On the palate, ripe black cherry and black plum follow, which transition into a hint of vanilla and toast. The tannins are soft and well-integrated, the finish round and persistent. No edgy moment, no break — the wine flows through.
Best drunk at 16–18 °C — with leg of lamb with rosemary jus, beef burger with aged cheddar, or a pasta with meat sauce. It also cuts a fine figure as an uncomplicated companion for an evening without a big occasion.
