Lloyd Reserve Shiraz

Lloyd Reserve Shiraz
The Lloyd Reserve Shiraz from Coriole is the flagship of a winery that has helped shape McLaren Vale for decades — concentrated, spicy, with a texture that immediately stands out in the glass.
Coriole was founded in 1967 by Hugh and Molly Lloyd and is located in the Seaview area of McLaren Vale on soils of iron-rich Terra rossa over limestone. This red earth, which gave the wine its name, ensures natural drainage and lastingly shapes the character of the vines. The Mediterranean climate — warm days, cool nights, dry growing phase — concentrates the aromas in the berries. Today, Mark and Paul Lloyd run the winery in the second generation; Robert Parker counts Coriole among South Australia's best estates.
In the glass, the Lloyd Reserve Shiraz shows a dense bouquet of ripe plums and blackberries, underpinned by nutmeg, cinnamon and a fine hint of rhubarb. On the palate, it is multi-layered and juicy, with a round tannin structure and a long, warm finish. The balance between fruit, spice and texture is what sets this wine apart from the mass of Australian Shiraz.
Good with braised lamb loin, roast beef with red wine sauce or aged Cheddar. Drinking temperature: 17–18 °C.
