Lessona DOC Piedmont 0.75L
Lessona is one of the quiet treasures of Piedmont — a small DOC zone north of Novara, where Nebbiolo shows a different side on sandy-weathered soils than in Barolo: slimmer, more fragrance-oriented, with fine texture instead of muscular power. Proprietà Sperino has helped shape this appellation and is considered one of the estates that put Lessona back on the map.
In the glass, the wine opens with aromas of violets and iris, plus dried red fruits — sour cherry, a hint of pomegranate — and a subtle earthy note that is typical for Nebbiolo from this zone. The tannins are present but fine and silky, the acidity gives the wine tension without sharpness. The finish is long and spicy, with a floral aftertaste.
Best served at 16–18 °C, it pairs with braised beef, game ragù, or a mature Taleggio. It also cuts a fine figure with risotto with truffle or mushrooms — a wine for the table, not just for the glass.
