Les Ambres Pommeau 17%vol AC Calvados du Pays d'Auge 0.7L

Pommeau from the Pays d'Auge: a liqueur wine made from apple must and Calvados, 17% vol, with the origin designation AC Calvados du Pays d'Auge. The Distillerie des Ambres stands for this Norman specialty.

For the Pommeau, apple must and Calvados from all four approved apple groups come together: sweet, bittersweet, bitter, and acidic. The distillates are distilled separately and then blended with fresh apple must. It matures for up to two years in French oak barrels, hence the warm amber color.

In the nose, ripe apples, dried fruits, caramel, and fine wood notes. On the palate, soft and round, with mild sweetness, light spice, and a long finish.

Recommendation: well chilled, about 8 to 10 °C, as an aperitif. Foie gras, blue cheese, or Tarte Tatin go well with it. Also a good companion with melon or on ice.
