L'Ermitage Brut - Roederer Estate Californian Quality Sparkling Wine

The L'Ermitage Brut 2019 is the prestige cuvée from Roederer Estate and is only bottled in outstanding years. It comes from the cool Anderson Valley in Mendocino County, California.

Roederer Estate bottles the wine using traditional bottle fermentation. The cuvée consists of 52% Chardonnay and 48% Pinot Noir and is supplemented by 3.9% Chardonnay from 2016 from the multi-vintage reserve. About 4.9% of the wine ferments in oak barrels for eight weeks with bâtonnage. 2019 is the first L'Ermitage with malolactic fermentation. After disgorging, the vintage lies on the cork for another seven months. The dosage is 6 g/l.

The perlage is fine. The combination of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and the small barrel portion gives the Brut structure and creaminess on the palate. We serve it at 7 to 9 °C as an aperitif, with oysters, fried monkfish, or aged hard cheese. It also works well with a festive menu.
