Le Margaux du Chateau de Malleret

A classic Margaux character with the finesse expected from the left bank of the Garonne: dark fruit, structure, and a velvety finish that lingers.

Château de Malleret is located in the Médoc, in the Haut-Médoc appellation, and is one of the solid bourgeois estates of the Bordelais. The wines from this house benefit from the well-drained gravel soils, which favor the typical Cabernet Sauvignon dominance in this region and are responsible for the characteristic tannin structure of Médoc wines.

The nose reveals aromas of blackcurrant, cedar wood, tobacco, and a hint of dark chocolate. On the palate, medium body, well-balanced tannins, and a fresh acid structure that gives the wine length. The finish is warm and persistent with spicy notes. James Suckling awarded 93 points for the 2015 vintage — a clear sign of the quality of this cuvée.

Be sure to decant before pouring — at least one hour, preferably two. Serving temperature: 17–18 °C. Goes well with leg of lamb with herbs, entrecôte, or aged Mimolette.
