Lareith Lagrein Riserva Alto Adige DOC 0.75L

Lagrein is the parade discipline of the Kellerei Kaltern — and the Lareith Riserva shows what this autochthonous South Tyrolean grape variety can achieve when you give it time. Deep violet-ruby red in the glass, dense and clear.

The Kellerei Kaltern is one of the most traditional cooperatives in South Tyrol. Around 400 member farms cultivate sites around Lake Kaltern, where the climate — mild winters, hot summers, cool nights — offers Lagrein ideal ripening conditions. The name "Lareith" refers to a specific origin site that gives the Riserva its independent character.

On the nose, blackberry, black cherry, and dark chocolate, underpinned by notes of undergrowth and dried herbs. On the palate, the wine shows the typical density of Lagrein: full body, velvety tannins with still-noticeable bite, long finish with a slightly bitter cocoa finish — a style characteristic of the grape variety.

Best served at 16–18 °C. Pairs with braised beef, game ragù, leg of lamb with rosemary, or strong mountain cheese like Graukäse from the Ahrntal. Anyone wishing to decant it: an hour opens it noticeably.
