Langhe Nebbiolo DOC
The Langhe Nebbiolo from La Spinetta is the accessible entry into Giorgio Rivetti's world — a wine that shows the Nebbiolo grape variety in its lighter, more playful side without losing any of its character.
Giorgio Rivetti is one of the defining figures of the modern Piedmont. As part of the legendary Barolo Boys, he drove the shift towards precise, fruit-driven vinification in the 1990s. His winery La Spinetta — originally rooted in the Astigiano — is now spread across all the major appellations of the Piedmont: Barbaresco with the single vineyards Gallina, Starderi, and Valeirano, and Barolo with the Campé. The Langhe Nebbiolo stands in this line as a characterful everyday wine that clearly bears Rivetti's signature.
In the glass, it shows aromas of plum and blackcurrant, complemented by subtle peppermint nuances. The acidity structure gives the wine length and liveliness; the tannin is fresh but fine-grained — typical for a Nebbiolo that is designed not for maximum extraction, but for drinkability.
Best served at 16–17 °C. Classic pairing: Vitello tonnato, pasta with ragù, or a young Pecorino. Anyone using this wine as an entry into the La Spinetta world will quickly understand why Rivetti sets standards in the Piedmont.
