Langhe DOC Nebbiolo

Nebbiolo from Piedmont shows its more accessible side here: not a heavy Barolo caliber, but a slender, spicy red wine with real character strength. Raspberry and blackberry meet violets and dog rose, plus a hint of wood roasting in the background. The acidity is noticeable and typical for the grape variety – not a flaw, but the backbone of this wine.

Behind the wine is Marco Porello from Canale in the Roero, the hill country opposite the Langhe on the other side of the Tanaro. He has led the family winery since 1994 and has spent an unusually large amount of time in the vineyard itself since then – over 2,000 hours a year. The vines mostly come from the 19th century; he knows every parcel in soil and microclimate exactly. This care shows in the glass.

On the palate, the Nebbiolo presents itself as slender and precise, with fine tannin structure and a spicy, medium-long finish. Serving temperature: 16–18 °C. Pairs with pasta with meat ragù, leg of lamb with rosemary, or a ripe Pecorino.
