Lambay Malt Irish Whiskey 43%vol cognac-cask finished 0.7L

The Lambay Malt is an Irish Single Malt with 43% ABV, based on bourbon casks and finished in Cognac casks. It combines Irish mildness with French cask artistry.

The whiskey bears the name of Lambay Island off the coast of Dublin. It is matured near the coast, and that is exactly what you taste: alongside the sweetness of vanilla and the spice of oak, there is a maritime, slightly salty note that is unusual for an Irish Malt. The Cognac finish rounds off the profile and gives it a soft, fruity depth. The manufacturer does not provide specific details on the maturation period or cask age, so we have omitted numbers here.

It is best tasted neat at room temperature to recognize the interplay of vanilla, oak, and salt. A single ice cube opens it up gently. It also works well in an Old Fashioned with little sugar, as its sweetness and spice carry the drink.
