Lagrein Alto Adige DOC 0.75L

Lagrein is the original grape variety of South Tyrol — nowhere else in the world does it ripen as consistently as in the valleys around Bolzano. Franz Haas, one of the most renowned wineries in the region based in Montagna in the South Tyrolean lowlands, has been working for generations to bring the potential of this idiosyncratic variety into the bottle.

In the glass, a deep ruby red with violet reflections appears. In the nose, blackberry, black cherry, and a hint of violets, underneath a fine earthy note that is typical for Lagrein. On the palate, it presents itself full-bodied with silky, ripe tannins and a lively acid structure that gives the wine freshness and drive. The finish is long, slightly spicy, with an aftertaste of dark berries and a touch of licorice.

Ideal with South Tyrolean speck, braised beef, game ragù, or strong pasta dishes with tomato sauce. Drinking temperature: 16–18 °C.
