La Narval Sardines in olive oil and lemon slice

La Narval represents classic Iberian canning: sardines caught off the Portuguese Atlantic coast, preserved in olive oil and flavored with a slice of lemon. The can bears the name of the narwhal – a symbol of the maritime tradition behind the product.

The jar reveals delicate, tender sardine flesh with a mild hint of sea salt; the olive oil rounds it off, and the lemon adds a fresh, slightly acidic touch. The consistency is firm but not dry – typical of handcrafted preserves from the region.

Enjoy it on its own on toasted bread, as a tapa with pickled peppers, or over a simple potato salad. A dry Albariño or a mineral Vinho Verde pairs well with it – the citrus notes in the fish are reflected in both.
