La Mondotte Grand Cru Classé AC Saint-Émilion 0.75L
La Mondotte is no ordinary Saint-Émilion. The micro-winery with only about four hectares is one of the most iconic addresses on the Right Bank – a Grand Cru Classé that works with concentrations typical for its site size: deep soil of limestone and clay, dominated by old Cabernet Franc vines.
Deep purple with violet reflections in the glass. The nose is dense and multi-layered: cassis, blackberry, violets, and licorice, underneath a mineral pull of limestone that clearly depicts the terroir signature of the site. On the palate, the wine appears concentrated, with ripe tannin structure and depth.
Served well-chilled at 16–18 °C, it unfolds best with braised beef, game ragout, or a strong goat cheese from the Périgord. Anyone opening the bottle now should decant for at least an hour.
