Joaquin N.V. Piante a Lapio Fiano Campania IGT 0.75L
A Fiano that shows what is possible when a single vineyard is consistently placed in the spotlight: Piante a Lapio by Joaquin is created from a single parcel of just 0.35 hectares in Località Tognano near Lapio in the province of Avellino — the core area of Fiano di Avellino. Around 2,000 bottles are produced per vintage.
Lapio is located in the highlands of Irpinia, on volcanic rock and calcareous marl soils that give the Fiano its characteristic tension. Joaquin is one of the addresses in Campania that consciously lifts this grape variety out of the shadow of Aglianico — with small quantities, old vine material, and a focus on origin instead of volume. The 35-year-old vines deliver concentrated, aromatically complex grapes.
In the glass, a wine with depth appears: ripe pear, white peach, and a hint of yellow plum, underneath a mineral, almost salty line typical of Fiano from Lapio. The body is full, the acidity present and well-integrated, the finish long and slightly nutty. Drinking temperature: 10–12 °C. Pairs with pasta with seafood, grilled sea bass, or buffalo mozzarella with ripe tomatoes.
